Economic Recovery Assistant

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. 

There is a specialized unit within DRC that is dedicated to humanitarian mine action. It established mine action programmes in Ukraine in 2014 and has since been expanding the scale and scope of its intervention to include mine risk education, humanitarian demining, victim assistance, advocacy, and training/support for national actors.

DRC Ukraine is looking for a highly qualified Economic Recovery (LLH) Assistant for it’s office based in Sloviansk or Sievierodonetsk or Mariupol. This role has a base focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines at the base level. The role contributes to the implementation and adherence to base strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.

Overall purpose of the role

•Under the supervision of and according to the instructions of Livelihoods Officer and/or Team Leader contribute to the planning, implementation/coordination and follow up of all technical aspects of the activities being implemented by DRC under USAD Economic Resilience Activity (ERA), namely when working with grant program component and/or ERA direct interventions under the workplan within Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

•Under the supervision of Livelihoods Officer and/or Team Leader work on building and maintaining good relations with the technical team that co-implements grant and other program components, to support its adequate implementation and coordination within.

Main responsibilities

Programming & Operations

• Under the supervision of and together with LLH Officer and/or Team Leader ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan.

• Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports for donors.

• Carry out monitoring and evaluation exercises.

Coordination and representation.

• Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts/colleagues on grant component implementation issues.

Project development

• Co-implement project plans and budgets for funding.

• Use projects tools.

• Project implementation and reporting in accordance to instructions provided by the LLH officer and/or Team Leader.

• Monitor and evaluate projects.

Logistics/Finance

• Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up.

• Provide assistance in planning and coordinating logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas.

• Provide assistance in procurements and ensure their execution.

We expect from you: minimum 2 years of practical experience in the sector area working for an INGO.

Required experience and competencies:

• Relevant university degree (e.g. political science, international development, or economics) or equivalent professional qualification.

• Field experience

• Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Advanced English proficiency

• Fluency in Ukrainian

Contract length: until March 2023.

Level: I

Start date: March 2022.
