Head of Finance

Overview

The Good Plastic Company has a vacancy for a Head of Finance to lead the finance function for an international group of companies. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with international commercial experience to join an early-stage, ambitious and rapidly expanding business. The position offers career development in a socially positive and fast-growing industry sector.

Requirements

• Degree in a finance, accounting, business, economics or related major (preferred); relevant postgraduate education is a plus.
• Fully qualified with a recognised accounting qualification (essential).
• 2+ years’ post-qualified experience in an industry role with a proven track record of delivering statutory and management reports and adding value to a business.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Talent for analysis and strategy.
• Proactive and with a commercial mindset.
• Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on statutory reporting requirements and deadlines.
• Ability to manage own time and activities while consulting with the rest of the senior management team and board.
• Excellent organisation, multi-tasking and organisational abilities.
• People management and team development skills.
• Strong English language skills and clear and professional communication ability, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work with a diverse international team and build relationships with colleagues of all levels of seniority.

Responsibilities

• Cover the individual and inter-company requirements for the existing group of companies, comprising a holding company (UK) and operating companies in the UK, Netherlands and Ukraine (and more in future as the group expands).
• Build and manage the finance department.
• Prepare timely and detailed reports on company and group financial performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Oversee and review accounting tasks, including payroll, taxes, and compliance.
• Prepare and present strategic and financial reports and guidance to executives, board members, investors, and other stakeholders.
• Lead all financial planning and analysis activities, including budgeting, forecasting and modelling, cashflow management, management accounting and business performance reporting.
• Work with executives and directors to create and manage budgets, update business plans and track key performance indicators.
• Manage risks and build and oversee internal control operations.
• Based in Ukraine; willingness to travel occasionally within Ukraine and internationally.
• Liaise with external accountants and auditors to ensure accurate statutory reporting and monitoring of group finances.
• Manage and optimise transfer pricing and tax issues.
• Consider and manage funding requirements, including reinvestment of operating profits, non-dilutive funding and equity investment.
• Help with other duties as required, in line with the early-stage and growing nature of the business.

Each panel is made from a single type of plastic so it can be easily recycled, extending its use indefinitely. Our distinctive plastic panels can be used to create modern-looking environmentally conscious furniture and interior design elements.

Our ‘think globally, act locally’ strategy is based on a localised plastic recycling and remanufacturing model that simplifies logistics and reduces CO2 emissions. The company was founded and manufactures in the Netherlands, has back-office support, manufacturing and R&D functions in Ukraine, and is preparing to commence manufacturing in the UK and soon other territories. A growing international distribution network represents the company in Norway, Denmark, France, Spain, Italy and Japan. The Good Plastic Company’s panels are available in a range of sizes, thicknesses and surface finishes, and are made in a range of standard and bespoke patterns from various types of plastic. We work with NGOs and charities on initiatives such as incorporating marine and ocean-bound plastic into our products.
