Controlling Professional (full time, Kyiv)

In the upcoming decade, unprofitable state-owned coal mines will be seizing its operations. This poses major social and economic challenges for the coal regions. The structural change needed to overcome them, based on the concepts of Just Transition and Green Recovery, can provide new impetus for the development and growth in the affected regions, and beyond. Decarbonization of the economy also makes a significant contribution to Ukraine's ability to raise its level of ambition in the context of global climate protection.

The aim of the project "Support for Structural Change in Ukrainian Coal Regions" is to ensure that Ukraine carries out the structural change associated with the coal phase-out in a socially and economically compatible and ecologically sustainable manner, with the involvement of civil society, using appropriate funding instruments in accordance with the concepts of Just Transition and Green Recovery

Areas of responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the continuous development of the controlling system for the management of expenditures and costs of the major project
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual financial planning (including cash budget planning)
  • Assist in the cost control of the EU-Ko? using "OnSITE Reporting" and in the annual financial reporting to the EU.
  • Assist in the overall coordination of the existing contract monitoring for commitment assessment and preparation of information relevant for management purposes
  • Participation and gradual assumption of more extensive responsibilities in contract management, financial reporting and commercial implementation of change offers
  • Consulting in close coordination with the project financial and administrative manager of the cluster management as well as the management team on financial topics
  • Support program management in complying with company-wide procedures, country-specific guidelines and other legal requirements in close cooperation with the project controller/finance manager and the project management units (PMU) of the project.
  • Performing other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Required qualifications:                                                                                                                      

  • Ideally, BA/MSc in business management with a focus on finance, controlling, business administration or comparable knowledge and experience
  • Initial professional experience in finance/controlling Knowledge of EU systems and procedures is an advantage
  • Sound understanding of numbers and a very well-developed ability to analyze Extensive knowledge of SAP and MS-O?ce, especially Excel Independent, structured and careful way of working
  • Customer and service orientation as well as the ability to work in a team
  • Very good knowledge of English; Ukrainian native level required; 
  • Knowledge of German is an asset.
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
  • Strong self-organisation skills and goal orientation combined with a high level of workload tolerance.
  • Work experience with international organizations is an asset.

Employment conditions 

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. The contract duration is 3 years. Starting as of August 2021.
