Social Media Officer

Background:

 

People in Need (PIN) has been active in Ukraine since early August 2014 and the humanitarian programs have been rapidly expanding since then. Currently, PIN is one of the major humanitarian actors in Eastern Ukraine while providing neutral and independent humanitarian aid to conflict-affected people. So far PIN has implemented number of multi-purpose cash grants, Shelter, Protection, Livelihoods and WASH interventions and supported more than 2 millions vulnerable populations, including IDPs, returnees and host communities in both urban and rural locations.

 

Position summary

 

The Social Media Officer is responsible for managing and promoting content on PIN's Ukraine Social Media platforms (Facebook and Microwebsite), is line-managed by the Advocacy and Communications Coordinator. The Social Media Officer will work in close collaboration with PIN's Communication & Advocacy team.

 

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Contribute to PIN global social media campaigns and social media channels;
  • Develop of FAQs for use in social media communication;
  • Manage and promote content on PIN Ukraine Social Media platforms (FB and microwebsite);
  • Collection and postproduction of basic materials (short articles, photos, videos) for social media;
  • Proofread and edit communications material in collaboration with the authors;
  • Support the development/production of engaging communication and advocacy materials for PIN Ukraine Social Media platforms;
  • Support UN information campaigns and international days (Women's Day, Teachers' Day, Food Day, Environment day, other anniversaries etc.);
  • Maintain feedback mechanism (feedbacks received via Social Media channels);
  • Depending on the candidate's interests and experience, further tasks may be included according to preferences.

 

Required background and competences:

 

  • Master's degree, or bachelor's degree in public relations, communication, journalism required;
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in public relations, communication, journalism, managing Social Media channels. 
  • Experience in managing and creating interesting, engaging content for social media;
  • Advanced PC skills: Word Processing. Formatting. Tables. Presentations. Graphics. Multimedia. Spreadsheets. Databases.;
  • Intermediate level of English;
  • Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian response system in Ukraine;
  • Good knowledge of social media tools
  • Strong Ukrainian/Russian/English-language writing skills - ability to put texts into correct and appropriate Ukrainian/Russian/English.
  • Demonstrated ability to write stories and articles, take photos, videos and communicate orally with accuracy and professionalism;
