The Open Data Science Conference (ODSC) is an international conference series that brings together the best minds in data science and artificial intelligence. As a global leader, we host international conferences and build learning content in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science around the globe including Boston, San Francisco, New York, London, Tokyo, Brazil, India, and Ukraine. We have one of the largest online communities in data science and AI via our blog site, webinar series, and training site. We host data scientists and tech influencers from companies like Apple, Google, Uber, Amazon, Facebook, IBM, and the hottest startups and unicorns in the field. Our learners and attendees get real hands-on experience from the brightest speakers and instructors from around the world, and also expand their network.

About the position:

ODSC is seeking a creative, analytical and enthusiastic Speaker Coordinator to be responsible for engaging with some of the smartest people in the field of artificial intelligence and data science -- data scientists, core-contributors, industry executives and instructors. The chosen candidate will help deliver bring some of the most compelling and exciting content available in the world of data science and artificial intelligence.

In order to be effective in this role, you must have a sincere interest in education and data science as well as interest in building skills in project and/or product management.

Basic Responsibilities

The speaker manager reports to the Speaking Department leadership and is responsible for coordinating the timely and efficient management of the conference speaker. Work will include research, outreach, and follow-up on a regular basis. Must be highly organized and task/track focused.

Essential Functions:

• Leverage your data science skills to learn and understand the latest data science models, algorithms, languages, tools, and frameworks

• Via our training and onboarding materials become an expert in understanding which are the most exciting areas of data science and AI and who are the people doing the most compelling work in the field

• Help build the content strategy forward by partnering cross-functionally to define and deliver on the next phase of data science content.

• Build research and compile background information on potential event speakers, instructors, and online presenters.

• Organize and curate conference and online training materials from our workshop and training instructors

• Assess subject matter experts who apply to become ODSC presenters.

• Work on Speaker Recruitment and helping speakers understand the value of presenting at ODSC.

• Manage email campaigns and communication pipeline with potential speakers and industry influencers.

• Work with our team to help build and manage our online Webinar series, Meetups, and live coding sessions.

• Follow a project schedule, utilize Agile methodologies and keep track of tasks through Asana.

• Work with our web and app sites to ensure all content information is updated and correct.

• Help conference chair to set up speaker and company interviews and host meetings

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of Data Science from online or university programs

• Bachelor's Degree in Management or similar discipline

• Interest in exploring data science and AI content, blogs, journals, and latest news

• Background in technology or data science a strong plus

• Basic experience with WordPress

• Research background in finding, qualifying, and documenting information

• Comfortable with extensive email outreach campaigns and communication

• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

• Experience managing events, client relationships of high-profile clients is preferred

• Ability to work under general supervision and must be detail-oriented

• Must be highly organized
