Senior Project Officer, Protection (PSS)

Duration: 8 months with the possibility of extension

 

Background:

 

People in Need (PIN) has been active in Ukraine since early August 2014 and the humanitarian programs have been rapidly expanding since then. Currently, PIN is one of the major humanitarian actors in Eastern Ukraine while providing neutral and independent humanitarian aid to conflict-affected people. So far PIN has implemented number of multi-purpose cash grants, Shelter, Protection, Livelihoods and WASH interventions and supported more than 2 millions vulnerable populations, including IDPs, returnees and host communities in both urban and rural locations.

 

Protection Senior Project Officer coordinates and organizes PSS activities of the project (DFID).

 

Main responsibilities:

 

 

  • responsible for the activities of the project and implementation, organizational support of the project and its coordination;

Closely cooperates with PIN employees, social partners, regional, district, city, local authorities, humanitarian organizations/ NGOs, clusters;

  • assists Head of Project and Protection Coordinator on the implementation of the PSS project;
  • prepares project-related information (including weekly / monthly / interim / final reports);
  • maintains, organizes and regulates the reporting documentation, internal and external documentation of the project (including documentation for the donor);
  • ensures proper, timely and accurate collection of data and / or data entry for internal and / or external reports, their systematization and archiving;
  • responsible for the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information necessary for design, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation;
  • analyzes trends in psychosocial interventions and develops / corrects program strategies to meet identified needs;
  • gathers up-to-date information about the needs of psychological orientation from local communities and evaluate / analyze psychosocial intervention;
  • displays and monitors needs and gaps;
  • studies the humanitarian situation within his / her responsibility and use the information collected to improve the project;
  • takes part in the development of cognitive-development programs of psychosocial intervention, information materials, training modules and / or other materials required for the component, taking part in their conducting;
  • regularly visits the project implementation sites, evaluates progress and reports / reports the results to the Program Manager.
  • bears responsibility for achieving project indicators, participates in their monitoring and evaluation;
  • provides information for the preparation of project proposals;
  • contributes to the preparation of qualitative reports / plans / presentations of project results;
  • responsible for organizing and conducting training seminars / trainings for representatives of locations, social partners;
  • facilitates the preparation, implementation of activities within the project (field visits, supervisions, trainings, round tables, conferences, other mass events);
  • takes part in meetings with the local government, public officials in the field of psychosocial activities;
  • coordinates its activities with the direct manager;
  • performs administrative functions and tasks of the manager in order to facilitate the implementation of the project activities in due time;
  • performs other necessary tasks and responsibilities within the project / department activity on the order of the head;
  • responsible for correctness and completeness of information acquired;
  • ensure non-disclosure of confidential information of the organization and personal data of employees or third parties that became known in the process of service delivery.

 

Required background and competences:

 

  • University degree in psychology, sociology, social science or similar discipline;

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with National or International NGO, UN or Intergovernmental or voluntary organization in humanitarian/development sector particularly in Easter Ukraine crisis;

  • Experience in working with communities and stakeholders related to protection programs;

  • Experience in working with vulnerable groups (people with disabilities, elderly, people living with chronical illness, etc.) on protection and psychosocial support subjects;

  • Upper-intermediate level of English;

  • Knowledge of Word and Excel;

  • High self-organization and self-control ability;
  • Communication skill including written communication.
