Network Engineer for IT Department

Purpose of the job

Our perfect candidate will be responsible for fulfilling requests from development teams for service, deployment and support of hardware and software-based network systems and will act as a 3 line of support infrastructure. Responsible for support and maintenance of complex solutions using standard technologies and practices.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Performs administrative duties for local and wide area networks, including routers, switches, gateways, access points, firewalls, and another related network hardware.
• Designed and integrated new technologies into communications and network infrastructures.
• Transitioned and migrated networks to a managed network addressing schemes to enhance the organizations management capabilities for its IT Infrastructure.
• Developed and implemented the Configuration Management, Documentation, and Network Administration of various nodes.
• Interacted with clients to receive requests, request clarifications, triage, troubleshoot, and resolve Network Management issues.
• Deploy Cisco network routers, switches, firewalls.
• Assist other departments in engineering highly scalable solutions for new and existing services.
• Participate in designing innovative solutions to improve current procedures.
• Act as escalation point for internal support departments in resolving a wide variety of customer facing issues regarding environment deployment, service issues, and technical questions.
• Consistently meet deadlines for complex issues and new projects involving multiple teams.
• Demonstrate best practices in all aspects of administration.
• Continuously stay abreast of new developments in supported operating systems to ensure consistent compatibility with established infrastructure.
• Investigate and troubleshoot hardware, software networking issues and failures.
• Document and maintain installation, provisioning, security, and configuration procedures.
• Assist development teams in deployment and provisioning strategies and automation

Education, skills and experience:

• CCNA, CCNP certification/course or equivalent industry experience required.
• 3+ years’ experience with network engineering and enterprise-level WAN, LAN and WLAN solutions.
• Fluency with Basic Networking: Ethernet, TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, NTP, SNMP, IPsec, NAT, DNS, DHCP, NetFlow etc.
• Working knowledge of Dynamic IP Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst 3900/2900 and Cisco Wireless LAN controllers.
• Deploy Cisco network routers, switches, firewalls.
• Knowledge of various VPN technologies.
• Excellent documentation skills, including experience creating and maintaining network diagrams.
• Multi-Vendor Load balancer experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (Bourne shell, Ruby, Python).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
• Experience working with virtualization technology. (VMWare, OpenStack, AWS, Azure)
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, proactive, and accustomed to searching out best practices and solutions while adding to the team's knowledge.
• Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks.
• Demonstrative written and verbal communication skills to audiences with a wide variety of technical knowledge.
• Very strong troubleshooting skills towards root cause analysis and practical issue resolution.
