Breeder position at Rijk Zwaan

You are part of a specific crop team which works on developing new varieties for several international markets. You will be working on developing and selecting parental lines, creating and testing trial hybrids with the aim of delivering competitive varieties to the markets. Frequent visits to the markets will lead to increased market knowledge for further alignment, improvement and innovation of the breeding programme.

You also work closely with research departments, such as phytopathology and molecular biology. Other departments you collaborate intensively with are crop maintenance, production, product development and commerce.

What we are looking for?

You are eager to have a long-term career in plant breeding profession and depending on your experience and education, being able to grow into running your on breeding programme in due time. You work with good planning, organisation, analytical and problem-solving skills. You are enthusiastic and have the ability to work independently in your own field but also enjoy working and sharing as part of a team. You have good communication skills with internal and external parties and make decisions in good consultation. You have an innovative mindset to create new ideas for continous improvement.

Plus we look for the following in your CV:

• an Agricultural, Biology or relevant university degree, with a good understanding of plant breeding and genetics, preferably done a MSc or PhD
• experience in plant breeding is an advantage
• advanced level of English and preferably also Turkish language
• willingness to travel
