The U.S. Department of Justice International Criminal Investigation Training Assistance Program is currently seeking a Project Assistant for the Territorial Community Police (TCP) Project to join our dynamic team based in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Position requires full-time location within Kyiv, Ukraine with frequent travel in rural areas in various regions of Ukraine based on project needs.

Organization Overview

 

ICITAP has maintained a full-time presence in Ukraine since 2005 with the mission of developing capacities of multiple Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. Over the past decade, ICITAP has conducted more than twenty law enforcement projects in Ukraine. ICITAP has missions in 33 countries worldwide supporting law enforcement training and capacity building in Central America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Pacific Asia.

 

Position Description

 

Within the TCP Project, ICITAP provides technical aid to the National Police of Ukraine in establishing the new Territorial Community Police Officer position performing the function of the District Inspectors in a more effective, community-oriented way. The duties of the Project Assistant for this project will include:

  • coordinating activities concerning the Project in rural areas in various regions of Ukraine
  • conducting surveys at potential program sites
  • participating in community meetings to ascertain feedback from the community
  • participating in assessment and selection commissions
  • translating documents from English to Ukrainian and from Ukrainian to English
  • acting as an interpreter for ICITAP management
  • arranging trainings, meetings and other events concerning the project
  • performing various research and analysis according to the project needs
  • managing electronic databases
  • drafting monthly status reports

 

Position Requirements

 

  • fluent written and oral English and Ukrainian language skills
  • capacity to perform translation/interpretation when necessary
  • proven experience in project administration and coordination
  • excellent computer skills including data analysis and statistics
  • university degree, preferably in law
  • availability for frequent travel in Ukraine
  • willingness to work on the National police reform
  • ability to work with limited direct supervision
  • accountability
  • self-motivation
  • emotional maturity and resilience
  • political astuteness.
