Senior Database Developer

Primary job responsibilities

• Design, develop and debug database objects and any supporting SQL scripts for Oracle or MySQL server. This includes but is not limited to stored procedures, views, functions, data manipulation scripts and ETL.
• Assist application developers with database design, development and best in class implementation
• Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
• Analyse and improve availability, efficiency, scalability, and stability of database components.
• Support the continuous improvement of the database development processes and their proper adoption within projects developed by the team.
• Ensure that technical solutions and code corresponds to the product requirements and target quality standards.

Required skills

• Bachelor's or Master degree in computer science or a related field.
• 5+ years of database software engineering or related experience.
• Advanced SQL, PL/SQL knowledge.
• Strong hands-on experience with advanced query design, stored procedures, views, functions, index design and SQL performance tuning techniques.
• Advanced knowledge of technical and functional designs for data warehousing, business intelligence, and application data management and reporting.
• Hands-on experience in logical and physical data modelling.
• Strong understanding of Database Administration (i.e. Replication, Backup/Restore strategies, Clustering, Failovering, Upgrade).
• Experience working in Unix-like OS(es).
• Good analytical skills.
• Thorough understanding of SW product development.
• Intermediate English.

Preferred skills

• Experience in database design and development for high load applications.
• Experience acting as a Database Administrator performing installs, backups, restores, and software upgrades.
• Shell scripting experience.
• Experience with cloud-based storage systems.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL solutions.
• Hands-on experience with designing and implementing stateful Microservices solutions.
• Experience working with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery processes.
