Freight Broker

Position: full-time

Working hours: 4 p.m - 1 a.m

Position Overview

The main goal of the freight broker position is to be a connection between customers and carriers. Freight brokers provide knowledge-based solutions for the customers by using a combination of resources, advanced technology, and professional experience. Perform freight services according to the company and government regulations. Builds the network full of carriers that company can rely on.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provides freight rates and pricing system to the clients. 

Research high-traffic market areas nationwide and determine carrier’s logistics needs.

Identifies and selects reputable and safe carriers for freight services.

Collaborates with shipper, carriers, and dispatchers on upcoming opportunities.  

Resolve freight discrepancies in a timely manner and troubleshoot problems that may arise during load movement. 

Maintain current knowledge of market trends in transportation industry.

Maintain strong, positive, and productive relationship with customers and carriers. 

Assists in scheduling appointments with shippers and receivers and provides necessary tracking information during the whole trip to the customers.

Assists in keeping data in the system up to date on the daily basis. 

Skills and Requirements

English - upper intermediate

2+ years of work experience in transportation industry. 

Proficient in Microsoft Office and any other industry-specific software. (Aljex, ProTransport, Strategy Live, etc.).

Detail oriented and excellent problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage, prioritize and multi-task his time effectively. 

Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills. 

Established book of business preferred.
