Field Communication Officer

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)/Doctors without Borders - is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. We offer assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.

MSF in Ukraine is currently looking for:

Field Communication Officer (FCO) in Kyiv 

Main purpose:

Contribute to the implementation of MSF Ukraine’s communication strategy. Build organisation’s visibility, acceptance and leverage inside the country. Focus on media alerts relating to medical and humanitarian issues, national and local media management and content diffusion.

Main Duties:

• Establish and maintain regular relations with key national and local media contacts (journalists, bloggers, photographers, and videographers). 
• Monitor media reports, handle local media requests, and contact local media proactively to pitch MSF stories and news.
• Organise events for local media (press conferences and briefings).
• Produce strategic reports on the local media landscape (key media, audience numbers, political affiliation, ownership, freedom of speech, use of social media) 
• Implement MSF’s Digital strategy, create and publish content on MSF’s Facebook page, ensure online engagement, alert mis/disinformation relating to MSF. 
• Supervise the production of internal communication tools (newsletters, brochures, posters etc.) adapt/translate communications materials content for national audiences. 
• The FCO will also provide communication training (prepare spokespersons, social media training) for other MSF staff.

Requirements: 

• Degree in Journalism, Communications or related university degree
• Essential working experience of at least two years in communications, journalism or public relations 
• Essential work experience of working with national media in Ukraine. 
• Fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian is essential (oral and written)
• Essential skills in computer literacy (word, excel, internet, database)
• Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop/Illustrator and Facebook Ad Manager is an asset. 
• Good networking and media relations skills
• NGO experience is considered as a strong asset
• Travel rate – 30% (out of Kyiv to MSF projects).

Monthly gross salary (before taxation) is UAH 27 730.
